Our Market Watch section is an online searchable database and it is smart phone friendly. It was set up as a database for vehicle price data; however we have added other collectibles as well. For example, under “Make” you can search for Paul McCartney for price data related to Paul McCartney collectibles. You can also use the database to see what celebrity ownership of a vehicle does to the value. For example, under “Model” search for Trans Am, click here to view the results. You can also search the Market Watch for famous/well know collections that have sold, for example, here is the data for the Bruce Weiner Microcar Auction. And here is the data for the Lee Roy Hartung collection that sold years ago. We have also included price data from TV shows such as Jay Lenos Garage, American Pickers, and others, simply search under “Make” for Jay Lenos Garage and click on search. The database allows you to compare asking price, book value, actual sale price, etc. You can also view offers versus sale price. Click here to view offers versus sale price. The database includes aircraft, cars, motorcycles, bicycles, collectibles, avionics, engines, car parts, aircraft parts, and more.

From an online site seen August 6 2024. Oh I forgot to tell you some of the information I have learned. They were made in LaCross Wisconsin from 1941-1952 and then they were bought out. In the 40s they made the style like mine and then in the early 50s they made motorcycle style bikes under the name Speigal Airman. The original engine was a Briggs & Stratton model NP with a kick starter or a clinton with a kick starter. They are worth the most money with the original engine and from what I have learned that its not worth putting in the time or money to restore it if it doesn't have the original engine. Fully restored with the original engine they are worth $3000-$5000. The original engine if it is a briggs & stratton NP is worth $800-$1500 with the correct kick starter and the carburetor with the linkage for the pedal controls. The engines are similar to the ones used on Hiawatha Doodle Bugs and that is why they are worth so much money in terms of collectability. I hope that helps with your research. The Mountaineer took a Lauson engine. |

1 – The Marjorie Anne is a round bottomed, fantail displacement hull steam launch, 26’ long with an 8’ beam.
It draws approximately 18” of water, and normally carries up to 10 passengers.
2 – The hull and cuddy cabin are fiberglass and the full-length roof over the rest of the boat is fiberglass over
oak framing. The bottom of the hull is laid up double thick with heavy mountings for the engine and boiler.
The boat has been stored under cover its whole life. It needs a good cleaning, but I don’t think it will require
refinishing.
3 – The engine is a 3&5-1/2 x 4 compound. The High-Pressure cylinder has a piston valve; the Low-Pressure
cylinder has a “D” valve. This engine is one of 12 built by John York (York Machine Works) in the 1970s.
John’s personal engine is #1, and mine is #2. It is a very traditional inline launch design with crosshead driven
feed water and vacuum pumps. Engine is equipped with a Manzel lubricator. The boiler is a 3-drum, water
tube, express type. I normally operated the system at 180 psi with mild superheat. There is a stainless steel
tank for liquid fuel and a tank for make-up water. The burner is the atomizing style and burns everything from
diesel fuel to JP4. Steam for this burner is is run through a dedicated pressure regulator and then through a drying coil in the bottom of the boiler which produces a very steady, consistent flame. The fire box is big enough
to allow solid fuel operation. All plumbing is schedule 80 black iron pipe and all steam valves are from
Lunkenheimer. The boat has 4 ways of feeding water to the boiler: an engine cross-head driven feed water
pump, a Penberthy injector, a general purpose steam powered duplex pump, and an emergency manual feed
pump. The system is fully condensing with under the hull copper condenser tubes, hot well/oil separator, preheaters etc. The bronze propeller is 22” in diameter with a 32” pitch.
4 – Miscellaneous: Rudder control is hydraulic. The rudder itself and heavy duty skeg are stainless steel.
Smokestack, roof supports, and boiler shell are also stainless. Boat is equipped with all required running lights
plus a remote steerable search light. a large steam whistle, plus a steam siren. Cabin port-lights are cast bronze
and can be opened. A marine flushable head is installed under the front cuddy cushion (there is no holding
tank – direct under hull discharge). Cabin is equipped with a full set of steam and vacuum gauges plus digital
tachometer, depth finder, and marine radios. All electrical wiring runs through a master breaker/control panel.
Boat is equipped with a folding fluke anchor. |

N6197J. Asking price seen on Facebook March 25 2024. TTAF 4197.
Engine 1117 hours since rebuild (Harry's note - not sure if this is an overhaul. It is not listed as an overhaul). Aspen EFD 1000 Pro w/synthetic vision and angle of attack. GTN 650 GPS/NAV/COM. ADSB in/out. GTX 345 transponder.
PMA 8000BT (Bluetooth) audio panel.
JPI EDM-830 engine monitor.
Autocontrol IIIB autopilot works great. The plane was a victim of a gear up landing back in 2008. All necessary inspections and repairs were made as well as many upgrades were done at that time. With the engine having 1119 hours on it, they chose to send it to Poplar Grove Airmotive Inc. for some extensive engine work. It received new rings, file fit to the cylinders, new bearings, new cam and lifters, piston pins, rod bolts/nuts, intake and exhaust valves, valve seats ground, and a new crankcase. At that time they also outfitted it with a new McCauley 3-blade prop. For logs, see https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1N1HODs6KnbUJli9UrZ5U56P50u35S5Zn Harry's notes - the airframe logs I reviewed started 8-6-2008. There is a log entry for 8-7-2008 and then the logs skip to 3-1-2011. From this it appears that the plane was sitting for a period. I saw nothing in the logs regarding the gear up landing (we should see the log entry for the repair). There was nothing in the engine log regarding what was done to the engine after the gear up landing. This plane does have some nice avionics, however it does have some unknown regarding the gear up landing. We should have more info on the gear up landing repairs before making an offer. | George Harrison |
Guitar |
2014 |
$657,000 |
George Harrison's Rickenbacker 425 Guitar. Today’s “Beatles Instruments” are George’s Rickenbackers. George picked up a 1962 Rickenbacker 425 in September 1963 for $400 at Fenton’s Music Store in Mount Vernon, Illinois during a two-week trip with his brother Peter to visit their sister, Louise in the US. In Benton, George met Gabe McCarty of the Four Vests, a local music group that played popular standards. When George mentioned that he’d like to buy a Rickenbacker while in the States, McCarty drove him to nearby Mount Vernon and introduced him to Lester “Red” Fenton. Red did have a Ric on hand- a single pickup 425 win Fire-glo. George admired the “cresting wave” solid body but wanted one in black to match John’s now painted 325, so the shopkeeper refinished the 425 in black and had it ready for George by the time he flew home the next week. A few days later after his return, on October 4, he debuted the 425 on “Ready Steady, Go.” A couple weeks later it was seen again on the “Thank Your Lucky Stars” program. After that, George used it for the Swedish tour in late October and the British tours in November and December. When George was given a new Rick a few weeks later in New York, this one was retired, but apparently not forgotten. At some point, he added a second “toaster top” pickup and another switch and replaced the control knobs. This instrument never became George’s favorite and in 1971, he gave it to George Peckham, a mate from Liverpool. In 2014, the Rickenbacker 425 fetched $657,000 at auction. The first Rickenbacker 12 string 360/12 was given to George from the Rickenbacker company in February 1964. The guitar is owned today by the Harrison family. The second Rickenbacker 12 string 360/12 was a gift from radio station WDGY on August 21, 1965. George played it live on only one song, “If I Needed Someone”. The guitar was stolen from Abbey Road Studios in March 1969. |

Guitar |
2014 |
$530,000 |
From a post on Facebook March 9 2015. John Lennons famed Paperback Writer guitar was bought by Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay for $530,000. Last November (Nov 2014), John Lennons Gretsch guitar, the instrument the rock legend used to record the Beatles 1966 classic Paperback Writer hit the auction block, with TracksAuction, the company selling the instrument, calling it the most significant of Johns guitars to come onto the market in the last 30 years. Lennons cousin, David Birch, had owned the instrument since 1967, but pulled the iconic guitar from auction after it failed to reach its $600,000 reserve. It was hardly the end of the story, though. For months before and after the auction, Chris McKinney, the guitar curator for Indianapolis Colts owner and collector Jim Irsay, had been in contact with Birch, hoping to avoid the auction and buy the guitar directly on behalf of Irsay. When the instrument didnt sell at auction, Irsay paid $530,000 for the Gretsch 6120 Chet Atkins hollow body. The John Lennon guitar used on Paperback Writer and other sessions with the Beatles is a significant piece of history, Irsay tells Rolling Stone. John Lennons guitars are as special as it gets. Instruments like this rarely become available, so anything John Lennon used is some of the most important historical musical archives that exist on the planet. McKinney admits that Birch originally didn\'t want to sell the instrument for less than $600,000. Hes a feisty old Englishman, McKinney says. It took about 15 figures paddled back and forth before everyone agreed to the $530,000 figure. |

John Lennon Gibson acoustic guitar. Nov 2015 sale of Johns guitar. The Gibson acoustic was stolen in in 1963. It was used on the recordings of Love Me Do and PS I Love You. A guitar stolen from the late John Lennon in the 1960s sold for $2.41m (£1.6m) on Saturday at an auction in Beverly Hills, California, and a Beatles drum head went for $2.1m, fetching some of the highest prices ever for items of rock and roll memorabilia. The 1962 J-160E Gibson acoustic guitar had for decades been in the possession of John McCaw, a novice musician who bought it in the late 1960s without knowing it had been stolen from the legendary Beatle several years before, said auctioneer Darren Julien. The instruments authenticity was determined by its matching serial number and wood grain, among other things, Julien said. Lennon bought it at a Liverpool music shop in 1962 and used it on recordings of a number of Beatles songs, including PS I Love You and Love Me Do, according to Juliens Auctions. He also is said to have strummed it while writing several Beatles hits with Paul McCartney, such as I Want To Hold Your Hand and All My Loving. |
